On the Path to a High Vibe Life - How to Let Go of Judgement
Anyone who knows me well, will know that I have an uncanny obsession with unicorns. It started as a joke between my best friend and I and turned into a legitimate obsession that has gotten to a point, which frankly isn't pretty anymore. (Yes, I confess that you will see me go about my yoga practice in snug, pink yoga pants with a flying purple and blue unicorn print - I know, right?! :D ).
The weirdest part about this quirky little obsession of mine is that suddenly all bigger fashion and accessory stores have picked up on the trend (ergo, there must be more weirdos like me out there). Suddenly, from Target to ShopRite to Charming Charlie's, all are selling pretty much everything you could possibly need in terms of unicorns...
From headphones, to speaker phones to umbrellas and necklaces, if it has a unicorn on it or is in the shape of a unicorn, or only remotely reminds you of a unicorn, chances are high these days in the United States that you can buy it.
And, no these items are not just for kids. Most of them are actually strategically targeting the hidden, inner child of adult children like myself. And since I am a proud, self-proclaimed adult child (which, I'm convinced, makes my life FAR more fun than most of y'alls-in-the-closet-adult-children, since all of us have an inner child hidden and stored away somewhere in the last corner of our internal basement winter closet - more on that in another post)...
...you can be sure that I have a large unicorn collection of everything you could possible need and want (or not, lol).
As the men among you might imagine, my poor boo's pupils are dilated and his hands are getting sweaty when we walk by one of these stores. The moment he sees that weird, obsessive, (probably pink) unicorn sparkle in my eyes, he knows what's up, because - frankly - we REALLY don't have any more room to store all the unicorn things I am currently hoarding.
The other night, it was one of those nights in which - technically - we just wanted to head to the pizza place. Unfortunately, however, (for my honey, anyways) this particular store selling all things unicorn was conveniently located between our car and the pizza place (must...buy...more...unicorn...stuff). And that was the night when I found...(drumroll)...
...Affirmators! Card Deck, sporting a cute, fluffy bunny, riding a unicorn up the rainbow. #affirmators
So,... totally my thing.
(Phew, I kinda went on another tangent there. :D)
The next morning, during my daily cosmic-booster-shot...
- (a.k.a. doin' a lil' yoga n' meditation and getting my spiritual swag on while burning weird sh*t, a.k.a sage - which my mom believes must be harvested from caves of the cult I don't belong, lol) -
...I was guided to draw a card for my growing tribe (y'all lovely souls). And what I drew couldn't have been more timely...
While this self-help card (without the self-help-y-ness) certainly does not resonate with everyone, I think it does with most people
Unless, of course, you are one of those humanoid aliens or spiritual beings or - quite possibly - both, who happened to serendipitously hack into human WiFi service from planet Enlightenment...
...If that is you, congrats! Please read no further and carry on being the enlightened being that you are. Oh and please save this planet. Thanks a bunch!
...If, however, you are like me, an ordinary Jodine Blow turned unicorn-lover, wandering this planet with soul in an effort to make sense of it all, you might wanna read on. I promise, I will come to the point soon. After I indulged in about 5 more tangents. LOL
Whether you like unicorns or call yourself Jodine or none of these things, chances are that your inner critic is just as exhausting as mine. As enlightened as I would like to be, I have to also admit that whoever hired this critic dude did well, because he sure is working overtime.
And he is actually working over time right now, in this very moment, as I'm writing this. "Who would read this anyway?", he is questioning. "This is stupid", he advised, "People don't read anymore anyway".
Lol, I told ya. He is pretty good at what he does. A couple of years ago, I would have listened to him. I would have stopped writing right here and right now. "You are right", I would have replied, "This is nonsense. No one wants to read, what I have to offer". And I would have never posted this. I would have shut my laptop and set it all aside, in order to dedicate my time buying into his storyline and indulge in beating myself up over the fact that I am not worthy enough. #BS
Sound familiar? I thought so. Because whether you write, or paint, or make music, or don't consider yourself very creative at all. We all have one thing in common: the critic is our worst enemy and he loves to sabotage.
So what's the issue with judgement when you are in fact one of those souls on the path to a high vibe life?
You know, one of those souls who has discovered that yoga makes you feel amazing, whether you still think it's "just" an exercise regime or have already discovered that it is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT...
...and perhaps has started a meditation practice, only to discover that you are much more resilient to stress and other daily (miserable) stuff we have to deal with on this planet...
...or perhaps even has had a Reiki session, and while you were skeptical at first, cannot deny that you felt strangely better after it...
The issue with judgement when you are a soul that aspires to live a life full of joy and positivity and high vibes is that judgement vibrationally is exactly the opposite of what you want to attract into your life per default.
Judgement is based in fear and fear is part of the dark force called negativity.
In fact, judgement's best friends, the bully-dude's he hangs out with daily, are fear, drama, chaos. Basically, all the kids we don't want on our block, if we are serious about evolving toward a joyful and fun existence and a friendly, safe neighborhood.
Because keeping those characters around the block will attract a whole spectrum of other energies and things we really, really, really don't want in our life. And I want to be so bold as to say that NO ONE, whether you are whole-heartedly committed to this self-help-y-new-age-yoga-reiki-crystal trip, just getting your feet wet, or believe this is all a cult can actually say that they enjoy negativity in their lives because it makes them feel good (said no one EVER, EVER!)
(Tangent number 5: have I ever told you the story when a guy I dated for 5 seconds called me a "walking cult"?! LOL. Well, now you know why he only made it to 5 seconds. I performed a voodoo ritual after and hexed away his manly-hood after which I offered it to the Goddess. JUST KIDDING. :P )
... So, whether you enjoy the New Age, or just want some insight into how to improve your life (because yoga seems to work, why wouldn't the self-help stuff too?) you will want to know why judgement isn't good for you, where it comes from, and how to change it.
However, that will have to wait until next time when I talk about, why, exactly, it is worth spending time to judge less and love more.
So stay tuned. The next post will be published on Monday, 5/15...
...Until then, my lovely soul, stay loving and carry on. Oh, and if you enjoyed reading this and know someone who'd benefit from reading it too, won't you please pass it on?

PPS: Mindful disclaimer - I am neither in the possession of truth, nor do I have – as they say - monopoly on the truth. Everybody has to seek and find what’s true for them. I am just another soul on the path of Truth (with a capital T) – whatever that means. While I travel down the long and lonesome road of life’s ups and downs, I have chosen the art of writing as my tool to dig deeper, in hope of finding pieces of clues that will help me solve life’s mysteries. Like a transpersonal archeologist, I am digging deep, working on making sense of the fantastically puzzling questions that revolve around the meaning of life and human existence. I am looking for clues to human existence that will shift our consciousness and help us see things through different, more loving, compassionate, forgiving and kinder lenses. So that we may not only transform our own being, but humankind collectively.
